Ask most anyone, those with a deep religious background, or those who
do not, about where America is headed for the future. The answer you
will receive from most is that they don't really know, but they feel
we are in trouble now, and are headed for deeper trouble if something
doesn't change. The political arena is not always to blame, and rightly
so in my opinion. I speak from the position of a Christian as well as
a minister of the gospel.
If you are a student of the Bible, and believe in the prophetic writings
of the Old Testament as well as those in the New Testament, then it
becomes quite clear to the reader that there are things that are to
come to pass no matter what you and I do. But, also, there are some
things that can be done to possibly stay the hand of Almighty God and
His judgement that is to come. The WORLD IS SICK! Every newspaper, every
radio and television newscast confirms it. Everything is going wrong
everywhere. There seems to be no peace anywhere - between nations, within
nations, within cities, within homes, even with the individual. Why?
Because the Prince of Peace has been rejected. His Word has been cast
aside; His laws broken; His world polluted so that even the fish, the
animals, "the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain"
(Romans 8:22).
Could the problem, at least in a great part, be that Christians have
failed to live up to and stand up for the things that our forefathers
fought and gave their lives for? Could it be possible today
to make a change in the way things are and the way we are headed? I
say POSITIVELY YES! The Scriptures are still true, lively and powerful
if we will only abide by God's laws which say, "If my people, which
are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my
face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles
7:14).
The Christian's involvement certainly includes the political, but it
goes far beyond that. Read the Scripture again, and then ask yourself
if there is something you can do to change the direction of our country
today. We need to get back to God!
